Cassill joins ThorSport for Daytona:
ThorSport Racing will expand to a three-truck team for the 2010 NASCAR Camping World Truck Series season-opener at Daytona with the addition of Landon Cassill to drive the team's #98 etc. EasytoInstall.com/Southern Candle Chevrolet. Cassill made his NASCAR debut in 2007 - at just 17 years of age - driving in a limited schedule of just six races for Hendrick Motorsports in the Nationwide Series. In 2008 he made 19 Nationwide Series starts, he earned five top-ten finishes in the Nationwide Series with a best finish of sixth (twice, at Gateway and Phoenix) and scored one pole position (Loudon). Which earned him 2008 Rookie of the Year honors.  In the Camping World Truck Series, he made six starts for the Morgan-Dollar/Randy Moss team, with one top-five finish and three top-ten finishes, with his best being third at Milwaukee.(

- Landon Cassill

Landon Cassill was the top Raybestos Rookie in tonight’s NextEra Energy Resources 250 practice session. Cassill logged the sixth-best overall speed was the only rookie among the top-10.

LANDON CASSILL, No. 98 THORSPORT RACING CHEVROLET
: ARE YOU PLANNING TO RUN THE FULL SEASON? "Right now, it’s so cliché to say this, but we’re working on it [laughs]. I mean, everybody’s working on it. We’ve got something that the guys at ThorSport have been working really hard on. They’re very capable of running a third truck team and they know it and it’d be good for them, good for the series and good for me. That’s what we’re shooting for but for right now we’ve got Daytona. We’ve got Easy-to-Install on the truck and it’s awesome. Everybody has just chipped in to run this race and that’s what really makes this a blessing. Hendrick Motorsports has provided an engine. David Pepper at ThorSport has really been working hard on the logistics on getting the team down here. This is David Gilliland’s late model hauler. Everybody really chipped in. This came together in seven days. Pepper told me when we were working on this, he said ‘If you give me six days I can do it’ and I called him and said I’ve got you seven [laughs]."

YOU ARE RUNNING WELL HERE. "I mean, we’re fast. Lance Hooper is kind of calling the shots here and man I feel like I’ve been working with him forever and I just met him yesterday. He had a game plan and has no problem going out there and drafting. I’m just excited. I think we’ve got some good things in store with this organization and would love to keep it going."

HOW COOL IS IT TO BE BACK AT DAYTONA? "It’s great. I love coming here. I love telling people that I’ve been coming here for 10 years. I started out racing at the municipal stadium in go karts and then at New Smyrna and now at the big track. It’s a good place for me. It feels like home."

WHAT ARE YOUR PLANS FOR NATIONWIDE? "Nothin right now. I mean I’m going to be at every race this so hopefully I’ll pick something up but this is something that I’m really, really pumped about especially because it’s a new team. I’m really excited about building from the ground up. I’ve done a lot of testing for Hendrick otorsports and obviously they’ve given me the support of their horsepower for Daytona and I got to the shop a couple days a week. It’s a great relationship and just keep working. It seems like at the Hendrick organization nobody is leaving me high and dry. It’s a pleasure to be involved with them."

Landon will be racing at the Cedar County Raceway in Tipton  and the Benton County Raceway in Vinton, Iowa August 1st and 2nd.

Winning driver:  Landon Cassill       Start of the South Georgia 100

The ASA Late Model Series Presented by GM Performance Parts paired up with the Southern Pro Late Models this past weekend at South Georgia Motorsports Park for the ‘Short Track Nationals Georgia 100’. Although we had rain on Friday, the practice day and Saturday, the original race day, we did get this one in on Sunday with great weather and a great field of cars.

Landon Cassill the Nascar Nationwide Series 2008 Rookie of the year won the event. Landon was the only driver in the ASALMS history to have won an event in all three divisions of the series. Back in July of 2006, Landon took the win at SGMP and his return proved to be rewarding.
